Today when India experiences scorching summer amid COVID 19, the use of air conditioners, coolers and fans have been rampant in our society, as per the behaviour of the viruses, the survival rate is more on the cold temperature, now the question arises should we not use ACs? Does it increase our risk of getting affected? Well, this blog will take all your queries head-on.


During the pandemic, the government has issued guidelines on the regulation of temperature of ACs, Cooler and Ventilation fans at home, office and healthcare facilities to keep the virus at bay. These guidelines were compiled by the Indian Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air Conditioner Engineers (ISHRAE) and were shared by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD).

While using the Air conditioners:

The temperature should be between 24 to 30 degree Celsius.

The room which has AC the humidity should be maintained between 40 to 70%. 
This means if you live in more humid climate should keep the temperature of about 24 C and the people with the dry climate should keep the temperature about 30 C.

The swing, re-circulation, fresh air modes are preferable with windows slightly open to ensure proper recirculation of air.

You should ensure that the room should be ventilated even when the AC is off
To be on the most secure side you can increase the frequency of your servicing of AC.
